15. Fit three AA batteries into the holder.

16. Turn the cap lamp switch and all 21 LEDs will illuminate.

Sorry if these instructions are a bit detailed but they are for people who are not experienced in the electronics field.

Underground Testing

Since the battery holder is not waterproof I mounted it inside my caving helmet which is probably not advisable because if a rock hits the helmet the battery holder could be forced into your head. However it is possible to purchase a waterproof housing for the battery holder. With three AA batteries fitted I have been underground for 10 hours and there is still a good light output.

Where to Purchase the LED Torch

The E-bay seller from whom I purchase the torch no longer sells this item. However there are still a number of sellers still selling the 21 LED Torches, On E-bay search for LED Light and you will see many entries.

Conclusions

  • Very suitable for normal caving especially digging.
  • Easy to carry additional batteries and fit during a trip.
  • Especially good for viewing carvings on cave or mine walls due to the defused illumination.
  • Not suitable for illuminating large chambers.
  • Waterproof but not suitable for sump diving see Procedure paragraph 14.
  • Probably wise carry a back-up light.
